Authentic Thai Cuisine is Served Up at New Restaurant Thai Mama!

Earlier this week the Downtown Cranford office held a ribbon cutting for Thai Mama, located at 110 North Ave West, and officially welcomed them to the community. Present at the ribbon cutting were owners Jorge and Mullika Tobaru, Mullika’s mother Jenny, Chef Kim, Mayor Brian Andrews, Andis Kalnins from the Cranford Chamber of Commerce, DMC Board Member Paul LaCorte, and Downtown Cranford Director Caren Demyen.

Jorge and Mullika Tobaru have restaurant experience and were looking to open a Thai restaurant based upon the traditional recipes Mullika grew up with. Jorge and Mullika began to search and came across an available space on North Avenue. “Our friends who live in the area told us we’d be joining a terrific community,” said Jorge. “We felt that owning a restaurant in Cranford was a great opportunity that we couldn’t pass up.”

Mullika had dreamed of opening a Thai restaurant, and now she’s able to share that dream with her husband and mother. Customers can dine in at Thai Mama or order takeout or delivery from services such as Grubhub and UberEats. Diners can start their meal with appetizers, salads, and soups, including Thai Dumplings, Curry Puffs, Satay Chicken, and Tom Yum Soup. Entrée options include Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Noodle Soups, Fried Rice, and more. Thai Mama’s entire menu can be viewed here: https://www.toasttab.com/thaimamanj/v3/. The restaurant’s specialties include duck, drunken noodles, and Khao Soi Gai soup, a curry soup that originated in Northern Thailand.

In the short time it’s been open, Thai Mama has already received rave reviews. Customers cite not only the delicious food, but the warm and welcoming atmosphere. “We make an effort to really focus on customer service, which helps set us apart,” Jorge said.

Thai Mama is open for lunch and dinner Monday, Wednesday-Saturday, and for dinner on Sunday. You can place an order online or give them a call at 908-854-3666. Welcome to Cranford Jorge and Mullika!
