Yesterday afternoon the Downtown Cranford office held a ribbon cutting for the new restaurant Hayaku, located at 41 North Avenue East. Downtown Cranford Director Caren Demyen, Mayor Kathleen Miller Prunty, and members of the DMC Board were present to officially welcome the owners of Hayaku Japanese Hibachi to the Downtown Cranford community.
Owners Lennie Majuana and Livia Tjandra-Wowiling have worked in hibachi restaurants for over 10 years. The women wanted to open a restaurant together and the opportunity arose for them to do so in Cranford. Upon visiting Cranford, the women fell in love with the town and decided it would be the perfect fit.
Lennie and Livia say that the inspiration for their restaurant was offering customers the taste and experience of Hibachi, but in a timely manner. This is reflected in the name of their restaurant as “hayaku” means “quickly.” Hibachi entrée options include chicken, shrimp, vegetable, and steak, as well as hibachi combos. The most popular combo is the Hayaku Trio, which includes steak, chicken, and shrimp. All of the hibachi entrees come with steamed or fried rice, vegetables, and Hayaku’s special sauce. For appetizers, customers can choose from edamame, gyoza, and spring rolls, as well as soups and salads.
For more information on Hayaku, please visit their website, https://www.hayakucranford.com/, and follow them on social media. You can order online here: https://www.clover.com/online-ordering/hayaku-cranford. Through the end of December, the restaurant is offering 10% off walk-in and takeout orders. Hayaku is open Monday-Saturday for lunch and dinner, and can be reached by calling 908-312-9089.
Welcome to Downtown Cranford Lennie and Livia!
