On September 30, Cranford Theater held a celebration of its 100th anniversary! In attendance were County of Union, New Jersey Commissioner James Baker Jr., Senate President Nicholas Scutari, Cranford Mayor Kathleen Prunty, DMC Board members, township officials, and friends and family.
Mayor Prunty presented Cranford Theater owner Doreen Sayegh a town proclamation that recognizes Cranford Theater’s importance to the town. Mayor Prunty spoke about Doreen’s perseverance over obstacles and how she is always looking to the future. Senate President Scutari said Cranford has a unique opportunity with its beautifully renovated theater and presented a State of NJ proclamation, commemorating Cranford Theater and wishing Doreen continued success. Commissioner Baker shared his memories about visiting the Cranford Theater while growing up and congratulated Doreen and her family.

With her family by her side, Doreen spoke about how the Cranford Theater is a place where people come together and memories are made. She promised to continue growing the Theater and thanked everyone who has supported them over the years. Doreen said that every challenge she’s faced has only made her more committed to the theater and community.

In honor of the first movie shown at the theater in 1926, Cranford Theater will be showing the silent film Padlocked on November 7. You can reserve your tickets for this special centennial celebration at www.cranfordtheater.com.
We’re so impressed by the resilience and commitment of the Sayegh family to the Cranford Theater and know how lucky we are to have them be a part of this town!
