Earlier today the Downtown Cranford office, Mayor Kathleen Prunty, Deputy Mayor Paul Gallo, and DMC Board members joined the owners of Johnny Napkins, John Garofalo and Anthony Romano, for their official ribbon cutting! Johnny Napkins originally opened in Union about ten years ago and quickly grew a following due to its creative and delicious pizzas, pastas, Italian entrees, salads, sandwiches, and more. Growing up in the pizza business, John knew that eventually he wanted to open his own restaurant. The long-term success of the original Johnny Napkins led to the search for a second location. In a twist of fate, John’s second cousins were the former owners of Pizza House in Downtown Cranford. When he toured 123 North Union Avenue, John knew he had found the perfect location for the expansion of Johnny Napkins.
Though there’s no shortage of Italian restaurants in New Jersey, Johnny Napkins has proven that its winning formula keeps customers coming back. “We offer a welcoming, creative atmosphere where customers feel like they’re dining at home,” said John. When it comes to pizza, diners can choose from traditional selections, or try out some of the restaurant’s specialties including John’s favorite, the Johnny Sottosopra Brooklyn, a Sicilian slice with mozzarella and provolone, topped with San Marzano tomatoes.

John didn’t hesitate when asked why he chose Cranford. “Cranford has one of the best downtowns in New Jersey,” he said. John recognizes that Pizza House had a following in the community, and hopes those customers will give Johnny Napkins a try. A customer who stopped in for lunch had only praise for the pizza. “The squares are delicious,” he said. “Crispy on the outside, soft in the middle, and the dough was great. I’ll definitely be back.”
Johnny Napkins is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner, and customers can easily find parking in the Cleveland Plaza parking lot. For more information, visit their website, https://johnnynapkins.com/ or give the Cranford location a call at 908-402-8500.
Welcome to Downtown Cranford Johnny Napkins!
