Last week Downtown Cranford officially welcomed Mystic Lobster at 101 Miln Street to the Cranford community with a ribbon cutting attended by DMC Board members, Township Committee members, the Downtown Cranford office, and Cranford Area Chamber of Commerce. Mystic Lobster has locations throughout the area, including one in Basking Ridge owned by Don Szymanski. The success of Basking Ridge convinced Don to open a second location, and he felt Cranford would be ideal. “For over a year I was trying to find a location in Cranford,” said Don. “Cranford has a great food scene, is very walkable, and has a lot of foot traffic. Caren, the Downtown Cranford Director, was so helpful from the first time I reached out. She was vital in helping us find the perfect spot.”

Don stresses that customers won’t find any filler in the lobster rolls from Mystic Lobster. “We use the best and tastiest meat from Maine lobsters, the knuckle and claw meat,” said Don. Don’s favorite order at Mystic Lobster is the Connecticut Roll, which is a warm, toasted roll filled with lobster and butter. He also enjoys the BLT, which includes lettuce, tomato, bacon, and a bacon aioli. If you have children who aren’t seafood fans, they can order macaroni and cheese (which one young customer said was better than homemade) and chicken fingers. Additional menu items will be added in the coming weeks.

Mystic Lobster has been welcomed by enthusiastic patrons since its opening day. Most customers place their orders to-go, though they’re welcome to stay and enjoy both indoor and outdoor seating.

Mystic Lobster is currently open 7 days a week from 11AM-8PM. If you’re interested in working at Mystic Lobster, you can stop in and fill out an application.
