Yesterday Poke House, located at 22 Eastman Street (formerly Craven BBQ), officially opened its doors! The Downtown Cranford ribbon cutting was attended by owners Joyce and Tony, their family, Mayor Brian Andrews, Commissioner Kathleen Prunty, DMC Board member Dennis Concha, Cranford Area Chamber of Commerce President Andis Kalnins, and property manager Jack Hahn.
Joyce had been searching for a restaurant space in Cranford for 2 years when she saw 22 Eastman Street was available. Joyce and Tony previously owned a Cantonese restaurant and Joyce was excited to change her focus to poke bowls. “Poke bowls are a healthy and light option that are great to have when the weather is warm,” said Joyce. “I first tried poke bowls when I visited California and fell in love with them. The poke bowls we serve here are filled with fresh vegetables and delicious proteins, and topped with homemade sauces.”
Customers can choose from special poke bowls (the Hawaii bowl with ahi tuna and crab meat is a favorite), or customize their own. Protein choices are vast and include spicy tuna, grilled chicken, salmon, shrimp tempura, and tofu. Customers can pick one protein and then choose from mix-ins, including edamame, pineapple, mango, cherry tomato, seaweed salad, and more. Additional items can also be added for an extra charge as well.
In addition to poke bowls, Poke House also serves up ramen, the perfect option for chillier days. Ramen varieties include chicken, pork, shrimp, seafood, and vegetable, all of which is served in a broth that’s cooked for 20 hours. Customers can start their meals with an appetizer, including edamame, dumplings, shumai, or more.

“I was so excited to bring this food to Cranford,” said Joyce. “We’ve already met other Cranford business owners who have all been so welcoming and friendly. A number of people also stopped in as we were getting the space ready and let us know how excited they were for us to open. We’re so happy that we found a space in Cranford and were able to join this wonderful community.”
