Lunchtime just got more interesting with the opening of Tony Boys at 102 North Union Ave in Downtown Cranford! Owner Anthony Marra was officially welcomed to town by Downtown Cranford Director Michael La Place, Deputy Mayor Paul Gallo, and Township Commissioner Gina Black.

Anthony grew up in the restaurant business, with his parents working as owners of an Italian deli. In 2017, Anthony opened the first Tony Boys opened in Livingston with a focus on gourmet and unique sandwiches and salads. Anthony was looking for expansion opportunities in the area and visited Cranford on a snowy day. “I was surprised to see so many people walking around Cranford,” said Anthony. “That showed me how walkable the area is, and how eager people are to support their local businesses.”

Tony Boys is known for its homemade chicken cutlets, which can be ordered on a variety of sandwiches. Customer favorites include the Drunk Chicken (Vodka Sauce, Melted Fresh Mozzarella), Number 10 (Fresh Mozzarella, Roasted Peppers & Balsamic Vinaigrette) and Stallone (Pepperoni, Melted Fresh Mozzarella & Extra Virgin Olive Oil). Customers can sub in breaded eggplant cutlets on any of the sandwiches and also order them on a gluten-free wrap. “In addition to our regular sandwiches, we also offer a variety of cheesesteak sandwiches,” said Anthony. “If customers want a healthier option, we have ten salads on our menu, and half of those are vegetarian.”

Tony Boys’ Cranford location has been open for almost a month and has already become a lunch destination for many local residents. Many people were already familiar with Tony Boys from its other locations, though Anthony emphasizes that each Tony Boys location is unique to its community. “One of my favorite things about being a business owner is the opportunity to get involved in the community,” said Anthony. “We’ve already received such a warm welcome from Cranford and I’m looking forward to repaying that down the line.”
