Just in time for Mother’s Day, Sugar Haus Aesthetics has opened its doors at 15 North Avenue East! The Downtown Cranford office, DMC Board members, and Township of Cranford Commissioner and Downtown liaison Kathleen Miller Prunty officially welcomed owner Darlene Romero yesterday. Darlene has designed the space at Sugar Haus Aesthetics to put clients at ease with its soothing and spa-like atmosphere. Darlene has been a cosmetologist for over ten years and specializes in sugaring. Sugaring removes hair using only lemon, water, and sugar, and is ideal for those with sensitive skin. Darlene initially operated a salon in Elizabeth, but had her eye on Cranford. “I’ve visited Cranford and knew the town was extremely business and community oriented,” said Darlene. When a space became available on North Avenue, she jumped at the opportunity.

To the delight of those looking for self-care, Sugar Haus Aesthetics offers more than just sugaring. Clients can make appointments for manicures, facials, haircuts, lashes, and more. The service that Darlene is most excited to offer the community are head spas, which she describes as “a facial for your scalp.” Sugar Haus offers a Korean head spa, where the scalp is massaged and cleansed, and clients also receive a mini facial. The relaxing experience is high in demand, though few spas in the area offer it. A normal session lasts for an hour, though Sugar Haus will offer an express version as well. Darlene originally became a cosmetologist because she enjoys connecting with people and likes helping them feel better about themselves. She has four children and works hard to balance motherhood with her business. “When you love what you do, you find a way,” she said. Sugar Haus Aesthetics is located at 15 North Avenue and is open Monday through Friday 10-6, and Saturday 9-5.
